………And here we are almost out of the woods-but with a jab not a tablet! And how great to be back here at Mileydale Lodge again and to be free to walk the hills & lakes, especially after a year of lockdown. This time we ‘ bagged ‘ Helvellyn & The Old Man- tiring but rewarding. The sun has shone every day- a miracle! The Lodge is very comfortable, clean and welcoming. Already booked our 3rd holiday later this year.

Our first holiday since Lockdown easement, and what a wonderful one! This is our second stay at Mileydale. Our first was 7 years ago and we had such fond memories, we knew we wanted to come back. The weather, the walks, the scenery and the simple joy of being outside has been a tonic! We could ask for nothing more and we will most certainly be back. Ann is the most wonderful attentive but ‘invisible’ host. She made our stay special from the off with her wonderful cake! Thank you!

Our first visit to Mileydale and we’ve loved it. The lodge is equipped to a very high standard. The location couldn’t be better. Lots of walks from the doorstep and very central for all areas of the Lakes. Ann, thank you for your hospitality. The Victoria sponge cake was delicious!! We even got to meet Ruby, she was beautiful. We visited ‘Chesters by the River’ after hearing of it from a few people. It was very nice although we weren’t aware that it was vegetarian/vegan. The cakes were lovely. We’ve walked around Tarn Hows numerous times but never up Black Crag. Well worth it as the views were stunning. Thanks Ann, see you on our return!!!

This is our first time in Lake District and I must say the Lodge and hospitality is amazing. We came late evening all the way from Peterborough and we were very pleased with our first entry into the lodge. The view from the balcony is amazing. The lodge is very nice and comfortable, loaded with high quality stuff. My parents particularly enjoyed the Indian TV channels. The best location in the Lake District. We visited beautiful Ambleside, Grasmere, Windermere, Coniston and a couple of walks. It was an amazing long weekend stay. And last but not least-the cake. It was really nice. Thank you Ann for your great hospitality.

Mileydale keeps us returning year on year. The accommodation is stylish and immaculate. The view from the balcony- one of the finest! This corner of the Lakes has so much to offer- we would recommend Chesters & Homeground (Windermere) for coffee/brunch. Blea Tarn for a wild swim & Loughriggto to Grasmere or Ambleside for a decent distance of hike. We will be back again, naturally! Thanks Ann & Neil

Our 6th visit back to the Lodge and it never disappoints. As always your homely gestures are always appreciated, especially the home made cakes and biscuits. Ann you really should publish a ‘Miley Cook Book’ We discovered some new places for relaxation this year. Enjoyed Cider on the terrace at Storrs Hall, Briary House Hotel and Langdale Chase. Also fab that we managed to include a trip to RHS Tatton Park. Looking forward to returning for a 7th time. Best wishes and thanks.

Our first visit at Mileydale. The Lodge is wonderful, beautiful and clean, everything you could possibly need. Our first holiday away with our new eight week old Grandson- Welcome to the Lakes Theo xxx. I’m sure he will be back!
Thank you for the kind hospitality Ann. 5 star*****
Hope to see you soon.
Our 7th visit. Thank you Ann for your great hospitality. The lodge as always is really comfortable and provides a really good base for visiting all areas of the Lakes. Good weather this week so good for walking! Thank you and see you again soon.

Our visit here too! A lovely lodge to stay in. A great place for walks up into the hills and to the local villages.
Our young adults and Mum bathed in the pure waters of loughrigg Tarn! Free use of the Leisure Centre an added bonus on a grey day. We played tennis on their picturesque court, with tea afterwards at the Elterwater Hotel next door.
Our host Ann could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We’ll be back! Thank you

We have been visiting the L.D. for 40 years with many new memories and experiences each time. We no longer walk the fells (or even long walks!) but the scenery, peace and tranquil surroundings become more important. Thus we have been thrilled at Mileydale Lodge. Truly the best s.c. accommodation, cleanest (immaculate) and every detail- feels like we are valued as people.
WE WILL RETURN A.S.A.P.
p.s The lemon drizzle was divine and Mums favourite.

Our first visit(thank you Fiona!) Bluebell heaven, birdsong and blossom. We joined The National Trust! A lot have changed since I climbed Helvellyn in 1962. Thanks for a first class welcome.

Another fantastic holiday spent here at Mileydale Lodge. Thank you so much Ann. It’s a shame we have to go. The lodge is perfect, and the location great for heading up the mountains. We’ll hopefully be back next year. Till then, thanks again.

We have had a fantastic week here at Mileydale. The lodge is clean, comfortable and spacious. Perfect location for so many walks and activities we could enjoy with our 11month old baby. It has been a brilliant week of sunny, hot weather so the paddling pool you provided was ideal. Great to have the passes for Leisure facilities.

Gosh what a week-blue skies every day and temps up to 30c. Mileydale proved to be an excellent base for walking and local amenities. We loved the comfort of the lodge and the tranquillity of the location.
We particularly enjoyed the Stamp House restaurant-we didn’t have the taster menu but really enjoyed superb cooking with local ingredients. Thanks Ann for making us feel so welcome-we will be back!

Mileydale Lodge is a very special place indeed and this is our 3rd time staying! The accommodation is first rate, the views from the balcony spectacular and constantly changing with the climate. Ann & Neil are the perfect welcoming hosts. We’ve past the stay; hiking(Langdale Pikes, Loughrigg to_Ambleside etc.),
Indulging in the leisure facilities @ Langdale, followed by some quality grub at Chesters post swimming, waiting patiently on the balcony in the evening for the hoots and squeaks of Tawny and little owls respectively. In summary another awesome stay!!!!!

This is our third visit to Mileydale Lodge. This time our son brought his girlfriend! Emily loved it as much as we do. You certainly make it welcoming and comforting.
After a very upsetting episode at home, your beautiful ‘holiday home’ has given us pespite, comfort and relaxation.
Thank you Ann and Neil. Hope to see you again soon.

October 2017
We came prepared for rain, but could’ve done without five consecutive days of it…….luckily we had the TV and the Langdale passes to keep us happy! When the rain stopped we were able to fully appreciative of this beautiful part of the world, particularly a 13 mile walk incorporating Great Langdale, Blea Tarn, and little Langdale. A highlight was lunch at Dungeon Ghyll (old). The views from Loughrigg Fell were magnificent too!
P.S. Mileydale was perfect: brilliantly equipped, incredibly comfortable, (best night’s sleep ever), immaculately clean and we really appreciated all the treats- thank you.
Sue, Paul, Meg and Sid
Been away too long, this place ticks all the boxes and more! Will not be away so long again. We fell in love all over again.
Just had the best week- this place is truly home from home, would only ever stay here when visiting the lakes!

September 2017
Thank you for another lovely holiday. We have had a great time and seem to have fitted so much in. Hope to be back soon
The Devlins
Thank you Ann, for your fantastic hospitality! Your helpfulness with suggested walks and places to eat was much appreciated. We’ve been to Chesters every day to eat, and each meal was superb.
The walk up Loughrigg Fell that you suggested was brilliant too. Can’t find a fault with the lodge at all, clean, modern, welcoming, we wanted for nothing at all. We wished we could have stayed for longer. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you Ann.
In common with most holidaymakers, the initial concern is whether the “ accommodation” will be good. Mileydale was better than good, it was perfect (unlike the weather!0. Having somewhere so warm and comfortable after the rain was a God-send.
Day 1 we visited Blackwell House(“superbe”).
Dar 2 Grasmere and a drive around Coniston Water (perfect).
Day 3 Ullswater(“fabulous”) with a stop at the truly beautiful church with the Arts and Crafts stained glass in Troutbeck (not to be missed), a climb up Aira Force followed by a voyage on the boat to Pooley Bridge and back.
Day 4 the rain was relentless, and so , along with the rest of the Lake District we went to the Lakes Distillery. Lunch was “superbe” and the guided tour very interesting. Good idea to book in advance.
We all agreed that even with such awful weather the Lakes were stunning and a wonderful experience for our French friends.
Turner’s and the Delande’s.
Thank you Ann for a wonderful week in your beautiful lodge! It as luxurious and comfortable with everything we could possibly need.
We made use of the Langdale membership, which our boys (3 & 6) loved.
Highlights were obviously the views and walks, open top bus from Ambleside to Grasmere and then a 5 mile walk back via Rydal was great!
Best meal at Zeffirellis- food was fantastic.
Lots of activities at Brockhole- we hired a boat and the boys rode ponies.
Perfectly located in the Lakes. We will definitely be back!!
Thank you.

Mileydale has been a wonderful place to stay. Great location and very well equipped.
Enjoyed numerous walks including a walk round Buttermere and a trip up to Wasdale Head where the views were breath-taking on a sunny day. Steak pie at Skelwith’s local pub was yummy.
Would recommend you to anyone!

Lovely stay at Mileydale! Very clean and comfortable with lovely views. Good walk up Loughrigg Fell.
Location is perfect for pram friendly walks, in particular from Chesters to Elterwater.
Being able to have use of the pool all week was great with our baby.
We will definitely stay here again.
Thank you!

March 2017
Well, our fourth time at Mileydale did not disappoint!
The lodge is as immaculate and comfortable as ever and the extra touches were welcome as well.
We had 4 glorious sun shiny days and had wonderful walks from the doorstep. We walked in Rydal and enjoyed lunch at the Badger Bar. The walk to Little Langdale was a favourite with lunch at the Three Shireses Inn- was lovely. We did our usual walk into Ambleside and also to Chapel Stile via Loughrigg Tarn, High Close and Elterwater. The shop at Chapel Stile is very well stocked.
All in all, another wonderful week at Mileydale Lodge. Thank you Ann. We will be back for a 5th time.Laura and Andrew

A perfect get-away from the London hustle and bustle. Arriving after work on Friday night it was a lovely treat to find tea and cake. What a beautiful cottage in a picture perfect part of the world.
It made our wedding anniversary all the more special.
Thank you.

Here we are again, having a fantastic time. Thank you Ann.
This was our second visit and once again we have had a great stay. The lodge is perfect, very comfortable with stunning views. A real home from home. Hawkshead is really worth a visit- it is a beautiful village. We have already booked our 3rd week for next year!
August 2016
We have returned to this Hidden Jewel which is still the best in Cumbria. Accommodation, hospitality and views the best there is. Ann’s a perfect host, nothing too much trouble to her. Our grandson loved playing with her grandchildren. Thank you for a lovely break.

October 2015
We have had another, much needed rest in your beautiful holiday home. We had mixed weather but it didn’t stop us having long leisurely walks. The rain was a good excuse to lie in and have a late breakfast.
We will be back!
P.S The 17 year old boys love it here. Sky TV is a luxury for them to watch sport but most of all they like the view, the area and the steak and ale pie at the Talbot Bar!

September 2015
Another lovely, relaxing break at Mileydale! We’ve been blessed with beautiful weather, not a drop of rain all week, which has given us the opportunity for some great walks around Loughrigg Tarn, Elterwater, Rydal Water and to Ambleside and back! Enjoyed a great meal at the Drunken Duck and also lovely food and cake from Chesters and Homeground Coffee and Kitchen in Windermere. An added bonus has been blackberry picking in the evenings! Look forward to our next trip!
S., S. & A.
We first stayed at the Lodge in July 2015, and while we were here we decided that we would have to come back as soon as possible. Luckily enough Mileydale was free for a week in September, so here we are and what a wonderful place to spend our holiday. Mileydale has everything we could ask for and Ann is such a wonderful host. We couldn’t ask for a better place to stay or find a better location. We will definitely be back.

‘Mileydale’ our Honeymoon haven! Wonderful welcome for us all. A perfect spot to explore this exceptional location from. We enjoyed wonderful walks with our 2 year old and can highly recommend ‘Chesters’ by the River. Florence loved the Eskdale & Ravenglass Railway trip and the Beatrix Potter Museum in Bowness. Our stay had to be adaptable with a little one and having so much to see and do locally made a memorable family holiday. We will be back!

Thank you Ann for your hospitality.
This is our second visit to Mileydale Lodge, we enjoyed it as much as the first. The Lake District is stunning in any weather, but we were fortunate that most of the rain fell overnight! Visited Hill Top which was interesting. Also enjoyed a visit to Wray Castle with a good walk along Windermere shore.
Visited Grange Over Sands, a very quiet town with lovely bakery and tea shop, Hazelmere.
We hope to visit again as we never want to go home when we are here!
S. & L. (Nottingham)
Amazing. We have been on loads of holidays in the Lake District but this has been the best one so far.We have come for Easter and were surprised to find Easter Eggs, a cream cake and flowers. The weather was lovely and the flowers opened on Easter Sunday. We made use of the Langdale Spa, going swimming every day. We had 4 days of long walks and spent the other two going to Ambleside and Keswick. We are planning to come again next year. Thank you.

It was just a perfect location for our stay in the Lake District. Even the kids loved it and don’t want to leave. Such a variety of things to do just from the doorstep by short car trip. Thanks for everything.

What a wonderful short break!
Great location for a young family. Lovely short walks on the doorstep. Yummy cakes at Chesters, good beer at the Britannia pub.
Fantastic views from the lodge, especially early morning during Lotties bottle!

A hidden Jewel Has to be the best accommodation we have stayed in over the Lake District. Beautifully clean, immaculately kept, modern lodge with fantastic views and perfect hosts. Thank you Ann for the lemon cake. Five days of glorious sunshine to round it all off. A very safe environment for our 1 ½ year old grandson. Oliver had a great time. We will return-can’t wait.
B. & C. Families (Tyne & Wear)
A stunning view, delicious homemade cake and wine in the fridge and a beautiful lodge to be our home for the week. What more did we need?-just good weather for walking! We were very fortunate as the sun shone every day-glorious! We enjoyed walks to Tarn Hows via Tom Gill’ Loughrigg Tarn and Fell then over to Ambleside, Silver How, Holme Fell, Blea Tarn and the Langdale Valley. Each one offering stunning scenery with an odd challenge! We ate well! We had an excellent meal in the Eltermere Hotel restaurant but the atmosphere was a bit ‘staid’. However the Bar is the same quality of food but cosier and more relaxing. Lunches at the Three Shires, Wainrights and Chesters were all ‘top notch’. We are sad to be leaving while the sun is shining! Thank you Ann for making us so welcome. We love your holiday haven!! We’ll return!

August 2014
Back again having had such a great time last year. It is a wonderful lodge in a fabulous location. We’ve walked, cycled, shopped, swam and relaxed, ticking all the boxes! Highlight for Thea and I was the ‘Cumbrian Heavy Horses’ an awesome experience, tailor made for our abilities. No wonder it’s the cleanest, tidiest yard with horses. They obviously love their jobs. Thanks again Neil and Ann it’s been wonderful.
J, T, Z. and W. (Hexham)
Despite the showers we have had a fantastic holiday! The accommodation is so clean, comfortable and luxurious. The swim and gym at Langdale Spa provided great entertainment for the teenage boys and the swimming was a good way to work off the steak and ale pies and cakes from Chesters. Thank you so much for your hospitality! So sorry that we didn’t meet Ann but we feel like we know her! Hopefully we will meet her next time when we return.
G, E, J and J (Mansfield)

What a relaxing break and such a lovely lodge, made even more perfect by all the personal touches; not forgetting the delicious cake! We made use of the unusually sunny weather by visiting the L & H railway as recommended by Ann, which was certainly a huge hit with our 2 year old. Also visited a few old haunts- Chesters and Bauldrys at Grassmere, both as fab as always! Needless to say we don’t want to go home! Thank you for your kindness and see you again soon.

Our 4th visit! We had a great week despite the weather. On the one dry day we had a fantastic walk up Coniston Old Man and on the other days we just got out there and just got wet! The lodge was as lovely as ever and so was Ann’s cake. Thank you for making us feel so welcome again.

Simply the best, better than all the rest’ 5 star accommodation in a beautiful location. We have thoroughly enjoyed everything. Walks, cosy evenings, breath taking views and two naughty visits to Chesters.
Thank you Ann & Neil.
We will return.

September 2013
A truly wonderful experience. Beautiful décor and exceptionally appointed with many extras making us feel like VIP guests.
As cyclists and walkers Mileydale is an excellent base to cycle to Skelwith Bridge, Langdale & Old Dungeon Ghyll safely, with magnificent walks to local Tarns and Ambleside.
Our hosts have created the’ perfect escape’ in a wonderful location, stunning views in this beautiful part of the world.
Langdale was fab for swimming and food. We’ve Party Trecked and Aquasphered at Coniston. We’ll be back to do all the other things we didn’t get done!
J. T. & Z. (Hexham)
We have had many visits to the Lakes but first time in the Langdale Valley- and we will certainly be back. Excellent low level and high walks. Weather very unkind, only one good day, but this did not stop us. Bowfel in high winds and the Tour of Britain in pouring rain, all good fun.
Wonderful accommodation, warm and cosy. Saturday evening helped Ann prepare for gales, obviously she is used to the change in conditions, not quite like this in Norfolk.
If you like Italian Food- Tarantella in Ambleside excellent value and quality- Chester’s cakes also good!
Thanks Ann foe everything.
H. & J. (Norwich)
Great stay in a lovely location. The lodge was everything we coul have hoped for.
Enjoyed good local walks-Loughrigg Terrace with views over Rydal; Loughrigg Tarn and a walk over towards Ambleside starting from the bridleway on the drive.
Great lunches at Chesters- Skelwith Bridge, Daisy’s Café Ambleside and Greens Grasmere. All coped well with Gluten Free.
We look forward to coming back sometime.

August 2013
Thank you for an absolutely lovely week in your lodge. The personal touches and attention to detail were very much appreciated. The views were breath-taking and the location ideal. The use of the Langdale Country Club was a bonus and really helped to tire our children out.
We had some great walks(with a buggy and a child’s bike) using the website :’miles without stiles’. The best was Coniston.
We hope to return again when our children can tackle more adventurous terrain.
S. A. E. and J. ( Dunmow, Essex)
Our stay in Mileydale has been fantastic. The lodge is in a great location, and is of an excellent standard. We have enjoyed walks over to Ambleside, around Loughrigg Tarn and up to Easdale Tarn from Grasmere. Ann gave us a warm welcome and the arrival goodies were much appreciated especially the delicious cake!
As well as enjoying a number of walks we took a Windermere cruise to Bowness, and had great fun at the Tree Top Treck at Brockhole- a must for kids and adults alike! A trip to Zeffirellis for pizza and a movie made a lovely evening too!
We would love to come back soon.

We have had a wonderful relaxing week in the Lake District made all the better by our stay in Mileydale Lodge and the amazing weather. The location of the lodge makes for easy access to the great attractions. The lodge is so comfortable and so well equipped, and the view from the deck whilst eating breakfast is amazing. Access to Langdale Country Club is a great bonus. Whether anyone is looking for a place to relax or a place to use as a base whilst walking or exploring the Lake District then we would recommend Mileydale Lodge to them immediately. Thank you for a very warm welcome, the wine, chocolates and all the little extras they were all really appreciated. We had a fabulous week. We hope to come back. Thanks again.

Our second visit and, once again a very warm welcome from Ann & the hens. Great weather made this our best holiday in the Lakes. Recommended: Eat at Fellinis in Ambleside- it’s a tad posher than Zeffirellis and the food is even more interesting. We’ll be back- longer next time!

Thanks Ann for the recommendation. The lodge and its setting are beautiful and we had a lovely relaxing time. If Chestnut goes missing you know that Grace has taken her home as a pet!

Our first trip to the Lakes and it was more wonderful than expected! Thank you so much Ann for the lovely warm welcome and the delicious cake, such a lovely touch.
Couldn’t think of a better place to stay than Mileydale Lodge, wonderfully light and spacious, everything is immaculate and of course the gorgeous views……just perfect!
A. & D. (London)
We have had an amazing week in the Lake District-made even better for staying at your wonderful Mileydale Lodge! So clean, modern, and view we couldn’t take our eyes off. For once the weather forecast was wrong, several days of hot sunshine enabling us to see Buttermere and Waste Water at their very best!. Loughrigg Fell behind the lodge was also a must! Thanks for the cake and wine on arrival-both were delicious!
Recommendations-the Glasshouse, Ambleside (for lunch and evening meal). Chips at Wasdale Head Inn, and cake at Chesters!
Thank you for letting us stay in this beautiful lodge, it has been a lovely restful week. We will be back!
(p.s. a dip in the pool & Jacuzzi at Langdale added even more luxury to our holiday!)

A truly wonderful stay-everything so immaculate and really comfortable. Upon arrival greeted with delicious strawberry cake and also all the other extra treats which were very much appreciated. Great location, wonderful walks nearby and superb weather made our stay perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better get-a-way. So much better than luxury hotels. Will definitely recommend you and would love to return.

Thank you so much for a memorable week. We had a wonderful family holiday- it was lovely to be able to take Molly swimming almost every day and she was thoroughly entertained by the chickens!
It is truly a beautiful part of the world and we have enjoyed exploring, and most of all coming back to relax in the lodge and out on the deck. The cake on arrival was delicious- it didn’t last long! We would definitely come again.
K.L.&M. (Scotland)
We have enjoyed a really wonderful week at Mileydae. The website made the property look wonderful and in reality it was even better. Mileydale trumps the vast majority of so called 4* hotels we have stayed in. Comfort, style, location & facilities are all wonderful.
We enjoyed a number of walks right from the front door. We particularly enjoyed the walk to Grasmere and back, stopping for lunch at Tweedies Bar and enjoyed a ‘bat of beer’. The walk to Ambleside was good too. An evening stroll round the Tarn and then on to the Talbot for a drink before coming back to make dinner was also a favourite.
We look forward to returning.
Thanks for everything Ann.

Wow! Feels like home from home but better! Felt so comfortable here. All the extra touches were much appreciated especially the cake……The lodge is so well equipped you want for nothing. Had a super dry week so plenty of walking. Thank you for being excellent hosts.

We had a fantastic New Year Break! The lodge is absolutely stunning and Ann & Neil looked after us very well! The extra touches were brilliant.
The area is beautiful; we especially enjoyed the walk from Elterwater to Chesters (fantastic lunch and cake), and the walk into Ambleside over the top. We would recommend the @Potting Shed in Grasmere for lunch.
The entry into the Spa was an extra bonus-we all enjoyed a swim, sauna, Jacuzzi after an active day!
The Spa treatments were also very good.
We shall definitely recommend the lodge to friends & family and we will hopefully return too

Lodge was all we wished for. The Christmas tree was lovely, the fresh eggs and Christmas crackers. It was clean, warm and very peaceful with the most wonderful views. Hosts were very welcoming and were around should we need them. Ann’s choc. Cake was to die for. Stayed in the Lake District for Christmas for the last 10 years and this has been one of the best. We will be back!

Lodge is wonderful -views gorgeous. Really grateful for all the ‘homely’ touches: shaver gels, chocolate goodies and especially the lovely cake (totally gone in under 18 hours-the kids of course!) can’t wait to come back!.
Oh thanks for Drunken Duck recommendation, sandwiches were indeed fantastic.

Mileydale lodge is a little piece of heaven! We have been coming to the Lakes for years, but this is by far the nicest place we have ever stayed. The location is perfect and we have enjoyed lots of different walks starting from our doorstep. Langdale Spa has been the perfect finish to our walks and we’ve used it most days for a swim and a sauna. I can highly recommend the Elemis Visible Brilliance facial too!
Thank you Ann and Neil for creating this very special place and for all the lovely personal touches: home baked, delicious cakes, fresh flowers, fresh eggs, fresh bread, chocolates……….I could go on forever!
Thank you and we will be back.

We’ve had a really relaxing week in this lovely lodge, with lovely walks from the lodge and up Dungeon Gill and The Old Man of Coniston. Great food at Chester’s, Bluebird Café at Coniston Water, Doi Antonon in Ambleside, and enjoyed the @meal deal’ at Zeffirellis before watching Skyfall on a really wet day! The lodge is beautifully equipped with wonderful views. Thank you very much!
We gid Go Ape and it was amazing!! Definitely worth the trip.

We have had another brilliant week in your beautiful lodge. Just as lovely as we remembered it. More great walks and lovely food. Had a great day boating on Coniston and also enjoyed the drive over Hardnott Pass to beautiful Wastwater. M. and L. love the chickens! See you at Easter time.

September 2012
We have had a fantastic week (even though we seemingly had a month’s worth of rain in one day!!) Mileydale has been our ‘home from home’ and a sanctuary following several hard days walking. Thanks to Ann for the cake and of course Henrietta and the gang for the eggs.
We shall return!
D & D (Wigan/Harrigate)
Wonderful lodge in a quiet position! The views from the dining table and terrace are fabulous. We enjoyrd the walks to Loughrigg and the amble to Ambleside and our walks further afield.
We had a fabulous lunch at L’Enclume, Cartmel- a bit of a drive but food and experience is stunning-expensive, but cheaper at lunchtime!
Lakes Artists (Grasmere) summer exhibition interesting- thanks for the recommendation Ann!

A wonderful stay in this well-equipped homely lodge. Set in the scenic, quiet location, perfectly poised to explore the Lakes. Highly recommend Chester (on Skelwith Bridge) for breakfast or afternoon tea. Walk from Elterwater to Dungeon Ghyll (through the valley) takes in amazing scenery and ends with a perfectly positioned pub-with fantastic views.
Thank you and hope to see you again!

An absolutely lovely, relaxing week!
All the home comforts with fabulous views to boot!!!
Even though the weathr wasn't that kind to us it didn't stop us enjoying ourselves, it's only a bit of water after all!
Ann, your cake & your hospitality were second to none. Many thanks.

A wonderful time was had by all in this well-appointed and beautifully situated ‘trailer’! We will be back!
Good grub: Chesters at Skelwith Bridge- best sausage roll in the world; restaurant at Langdale Country Club- flat bread with king prawns;Drunken Duck-BIG sandwiches.
For those of an artistic bent, go to the Armitt Gallery in Ambleside. For literary pleasures, go to the Fireside Bookshop, Victoria St. Windermere.

WOW. What an amazing welcome! The welcome treats were a lovely, fabulous surprise. Thank you! Ecxelent! The personal touches and attention to detail were much appreciated. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable, the views are breathtaking. A walk over to Ambleside gave us an appetite where we had a lovely meal at the Glasshouse. The chickens kept us on our toes, which made us laugh!! We will definitely recommend and return to the lodge. A real 5 star relaxing break! Take care. Thank you and see you again. xx

Wonderful place to stay. Lovely warm welcome from Ann. The strawberry cake was delicious! The lodge is fab, well appointed and very comfortable. We had a great meal at the Waterhead Bar and Grill and can recommend Wainright’s Inn for good pub food. South lakes Wildlife park is worth the drive. For the more adventurous Stickle Tarn/Pavey’s Ark is a great hike. Thomas (aged 1 ½) loved the chickens, the bath and themagic flashing ducks!
Overall, great stay, will recommend and would stay again.

Wonderful place to stay. Ann’s welcome and hospitality, the amazing lodge, the walks and the scenery made our first visit to the Lakes really special. Even the weather was perfect! Fantastic holiday. Would we return? Definitely.

We have had a fabulous family holiday. Mileydale Lodge is a perfect retreat in a perfect location. We’ll miss seeing the hens, donkeys, lamas, sheep, cats, hedgehogs (at dusk), cows and of course the view. A.’s first birthday was extra special due to the fabulous cake. Thanks you so much.
We’d recommend an early evening walk around Tarn Hows followed by a pint at the Drunken Duck.
J,F and A (Surbiton, Surrey)
A fantastic break in the Lakes. Both Ann & Neil made our stay very welcome. Ann’s strawberry fresh cream cake on arrival was a splendid start. The lodge was a perfect base to explore the fells and the surrounding walks. We can’t wait to return.

We have had a fantastic week in your beautiful lodge. A perfect location with many walks from the door and Ambleside just down the road (or over the hill). We loved the cinema and meal deal at Zeffirellis and Rattle Gill café in Ambleside as well as all the fabulous walks. Thank you Ann and Neil for making us so welcome and for all the treats.
G, A & Family (Merseyside)
Thank you Ann & Neil, for a lovely week in the Lakes. The lodge is a wonderful place to stay and the location is ideal. We like the ‘cinema and meal deal’ at Zeffirelli’s in Ambleside and all the nearby walks. We, particularly, enjoyed riding on the Segway bikes at Graythwaite Hall. Thank you both for making us so welcome. We will certainly tell our friends about the lodge and your generous hospitality.

We have thoroughly enjoyed a week here. The lodge, the views and the priceless hospitality from you both has been wonderful. The food at the Eltermere is particularly good. We really don’t want to leave, but hope to return. This is the best self catering accommodation we have stayed at. Thank you.

What a fantastic place! Everything we needed and perfect with two young children. The lodge is beautiful and coupled with the views and walking distance to Chesters, what more do you need! We made full use of the leisure club which is ideal when the weather isn’t great! We look forward to returning in the New Year!
Fantastic weekend, thank you Ann and Neil. A beautiful lodge with stunning views (God’s own country). Fantastic walks from the doorstep, pubs in walking distance(Real Ale and home cooked food in the Talbot Bar at Skelwith Bridge. Just what you need after a long walk).
We can’t think of a nicer place or a nicer way to spend a holiday.
October 2011
