Walks from the Lodge
There are many beautiful flat and hill walks all within a short distance from the lodge, suitable for all abilities.
Within 50m you can join the path on to Loughrigg Fell, where you can either enjoy one of its many peaks overlooking spectacular views of Windermere, Grasmere, Elterwater and Ambleside.
The stunning Loughrigg Tarn is located just 10 minutes walk from the lodge, which has a public footpath for a very easy flat walk, also suitable for pushchairs.
The villages of Elterwater, Grassmere and Ambleside can be reached on foot and offer a walk which allows you to see the best of the Langdale Valley’s spectacular scenery.
Great local pubs serving good food and locally brewed ale can also be reached on foot. The Skelwith Bridge is minutes from the lodge and offers good food and a range of real ales.
The Kirkstone Estate is also situated nearby where you can find Chesters shop and café, and join a gentle walk past Skelwith force, along the river Brathay to Elterwater.
